The Bryce Harper watch has officially begun
To go along with Harper we are eagerly awaiting John Singleton as well. However, most of the position players are young and are just starting to find their way or are entering their "prime age".
Those who are finding their way:
Matt Laporta
Dexter Fowler
Brandon Wood
All are settling in and have a real chance to prove their worth this year. KC is crossing their fingers that they all pan out. We are really hoping for Wood and Laporta to get a real shot and to finally live up to their power hype. If those two can produce anything to what is expected, the KC lineup will have a lot of pop.
Entering their "Prime"
Kinsler, Choo, Holliday, Weeks.
All of our position players with the exception of catcher will be with us at least through 2014.
The pitching is still the weak link with huge question marks for the 2011 season.
Jake Peavey ????
Mitch Talbot
Wade LeBlanc
Wade Davis
Phil Hughes
Felipe Paulino (we hope)
And the bullpen is thin.
However the future of the pitching staff looks bright. KC has begun to accumulate a collection of young pitchers that are showing potential.
Mike Pineda (draft 10)
Kyle Gibson (draft (10)
Mike Minor (draft 11)
Jarred Cosart (draft 10)
Mark Rogers (inherited)
Aaron Crow (draft 11)
Aaron Miller (draft 11)
While the arrival dates for the show all vary, all should make their debut in a year or three. Hopefully, a few live up to their hype and give KC a solid and deep pitching staff.
KC's rebuilding process is almost complete and hopes to compete in the years 2012-2014.
