We had a marvelous time in Penang, Malaysia. The Georgetown area of Penang is a UNESCO World Heritage site. While we were there we stayed at the Trader's Hotel and enjoyed it very much. We sampled the delicious food there - John particularly enjoyed the Char Kway Teow, which is stir fried rice cake strips with prawns, pork and other seafood. We took the funicular railway up to the top of Penang Hill and had high tea there at a beautiful place called David Brown Tea Terrace of Strawberry Hill - divine! We also visited Fort Cornwallis, which is a brick and mortar fort that was built in 1786 by the British under Captain Francis Light (founder of modern day Penang) at the site where the British first landed. We also went to the Peranakan Mansion House which showed us the house of a very opulent Chinese triad boss. After the triad boss died they made a statue of his upper torso to keep him looking over the house forever.
