April 2012
We flew into Kuala Lumpur, met Beccy, rented a car and drove up to the Cameron Highlands for a few days. It was beautiful! We stayed at the Century Pines Resort in Tanah Rata. Our rooms were quite nice and spacious and we enjoyed our time there. The location was spot on as we could walk right into the town centre and grab a bite to eat. We fell in love with Kumar's, an Indian place with reasonable prices. The most interesting thing I found about the Cameron Highlands was all the British style colonial architecture. There were numerous British style hotels - we ate at three of the main ones - The Lakehouse, Ye Old Smokehouse Inn, and the Cameron Highlands Resort. Each of them had special features and delicious food. We visited the Boh Tea Plantations - Boh is the largest tea company in Malaysia, and drank tea and had a scone in the nicest snack bar I've ever seen! We went to the Big Red Strawberry Farm to sample fresh strawberries and laugh hysterically at the silly photo opportunities there. We saw numerous waterfalls, had a few jungle walks and got our shoes very muddy. All in all it was a wonderful few days!
