What would our knowledge of the Tudor dynasty be without all of those marvelous portraits of the monarchs and their courtiers? Imagine having never seen that larger than life canvas painting of King Henry VIII in all of his regalness. Words can be very descriptive, but there's nothing quite like an image.

Listed below are several topics connected to portraits. Choose one and write an essay on it (minimum 300 words, and remember to cite your sources). If there's a subject or person you'd like to write about that isn't on the list, just ask me if it's all right.

Art (30 points):

Illustrate a famous scene from the Tudor era, either one mentioned in the lessons or something from the era that you've always liked. For instance, you might draw King Henry VIII at one of his sumptuous feasts. Have fun with it!


Creative: (30 points): You are Katherine of Aragon and you have discovered the king has found a way to divorce you. Write a letter to Anne Boleyn. What would you say to her? Would you warn her could divorce her as well? Separate her from her child? Make it at least 150 words.
