The Tudors

Welcome to The Tudors! I am your teacher for this class, Emily Spencer. This class was originally taught by Naimh Cassidy, who passed it on to February Fortescue. who has graciously allowed me to take it over and offer it. I hope that I can do them proud!

Like many people, I've been interested in the Tudor dynasty of England for a long time. Thanks to larger than life rulers like the infamous Henry VIII and his daughter Elizabeth I, the entire family has become legendary.

But there's much more to the Tudors than Henry and Elizabeth, and sometimes the truth about them is even more remarkable than the legends. They ruled England for nearly a hundred and twenty years and during that time they both saw and caused many sweeping changes in their country and the rest of the world. These times were filled with beautiful princesses, secret marriages, battles, sneaky political maneuvers, fabulous jewels, betrayals, executions, and of course, plenty of royal marriages. What more could you ask for?

This is a year-long class that will explore this famous family in-depth, from Henry VII who founded the dynasty by seizing the crown in battle in 1485 all the way to 1603 and the death of Elizabeth I, Good Queen Bess, the last of the Tudors. I hope you enjoy this glimpse into England's storied past.
