How to get there:
Drive 1/2 mile west of Aspen on highway 82 until you hit a roundabout. Turn right onto Castle Creek Rd. Drive for 5 miles on Castle Creek Rd. then turn right onto Conundrum Rd. Continue on Conundrum for 1.1 miles to the trailhead parking lot.
Permit:
Reservations do not have to be made. At the trailhead is a permit box. Fill out a permit and drop one copy in the box and carry the other with you. There is no fee or limit to the number of permits.
Backcountry camping is allowed all throughout Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness as long as you do not camp withing 100ft of any trail, lake, or stream. That being said Conundrum Hot springs is the exception. You can only camp at the 16 designated hot spring camp sites. First come first serve.
