Create (or edit) a JPEG file that is sized to your primary monitor's resolution, is less than 200 000 bytes and call it
backgroundDefault.jpg
Using Windows Explorer, go to (and create the last few, if necessary)
C:\Windows\System32\oobe\Info\Backgrounds
Copy the file from the first step into the folder from the second
Start > Regedit
Start at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Navigate to
Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\Background\
Create or edit the DWORD value
OEMBackground
and set it to
1
Lock the computer to see the new masterpiece!
