How to install Confluence

Confluence 2.7.1 on Ubuntu 9.04

sudo apt-get install libx11-6 libx11-dev libxt6 libxt6-dbg libxext6 libxtst-dev libxtst6 xlibs-dev wget sun-java6-jdk tomcat6 postgresql-8.3
wget -q 'http://jdbc.postgresql.org/download/postgresql-8.3-604.jdbc4.jar'
cd /usr/local/
sudo tar -xzf ~/confluence-2.7.1.tar.gz
sudo cp ~/postgresql-8.3-604.jdbc4.jar confluence-2.7.1/confluence/WEB-INF/lib/
sudo chown -R tomcat6:tomcat6 confluence-2.7.1/
sudo chown -R tomcat6:tomcat6 confluence-data/
sudo mkdir confluence-data
1. Edit /usr/local/confluence-2.7.1/confluence/WEB-INF/classes/confluence-init.properties to add/set:
  1. confluence.home=/usr/local/confluence-data/
sudo -u postgres createdb -E UNICODE confluence
1. sudo -u postgres createuser tomcat6 and answer no to all three questions
2. sudo -u postgres psql
  1. GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON DATABASE confluence TO tomcat6;
    1. \password tomcat6 and enter the new password twice
  2. \q
3. Edit /etc/default/tomcat6 to:
sudo /etc/init.d/tomcat6 restart
1. Create the file /etc/tomcat6/Catalina/localhost/ROOT.xml with the following content:
  1. <Context path="" docBase="/usr/local/confluence-2.7.1/confluence" debug="0" reloadable="true">
  2. </Context>
2. Open your browser to http://server:8080/ and the Confluence Setup should start:
