Brothers: Anthony Jon & Russell Albert James Dorhauer visiting the cottage at Hill End in 2007, built by their great uncle, Johann (John) Krohmann in 1855. The cottage is maintained by the NSW National Parkes & Wildlife Service & is Heritage listed.
A descendant of Michael Ackermann, Elizabeth Ackerman married Johann after the death of his first wife Eva Heinz in Germany. On her return to Australia she lived in the cottage for two years before going to Sydney. A further Ackermann descendant lives in the cottage as a caretaker. It is furnished in the original 1860's style and has no modern conveniences.
A panorama view of the exterior of the Krohmann Cottage, which is sometimes refered to as the Ackermann/Krohmann cottage because of the supposed additions carried ot by Michael Ackermann after Johann and Eva Krohmann returned to Germany with their family.Elizabeth Krohmann (nee Ackermann) who married Johann after Eva died in Germany lived in the cottage when she returned to Australia after Johann died for about two years in 1881.

A photo of "Hawkins Hill" site of a section of the rich gold mines in Hill End. The Krohmann mine was on this section of the diggings.
As was the Star Of Hope Mine where the Beyers & Holtermann Nugget was brought to the surface. The largest gold speciman ever found anywhere in the world.
Photo taken of the Tenth Half Yearly report for the Krohmann Gold Mining Company.This report is located in the "Hill End Museum" which is located on History Hill and belongs to Malcolm Drinkwater.
