Albert Leopold Victor was born in Sydney on 16th March 1888. he was the youngest of the family and was raised at his parents home in Woollahra, Sydney, by his mother and siblings.

He was only 17 months old when his father, Heinrich Gottfried Theodore Dorhauer died on 27th September 1890.

After returning from Germany, Elizabeth Krohmann (nee Ackermann) who married John Krohmann after his first wife, my great aunt Eva died, was the midwife at Albert's birth.

He married Charlotte Archdall Bargh at St. Peters Church Sydney on 4th May 1911 when he was 23 years old, and in 1914 they lived at "Ingleside" Edward Street Woollahra for a number of years before they purchased a home at 73 Gale Road Maroubra, Sydney.

He was a Master Plumber, as was his older brother Heinrich (Henry), and he worked for the Frank Packer Consolidated Press owned Newspaper, "The Telegraph," until his sudden death at an early age on the 17th. January 1949.

Albert's passion was his garden and glass house where he grew Orchids. The glass house was able to be accessed from the living room through large french doors that would be left open so that the orchids, when in flower could be seen from the comfort of a lounge chair.

He had an extensive collection of books, artefacts, gem collections, antiques and memorabilia that were all housed in glass display cases that lined the walls of the living room. Many items were from the Hill End Goldfields that once belonged to his father and uncles.
