Comments: I found the writing utterly amazing. Many people seem to dislike the book, which is kind of upsetting in a way, considering the characters are truly spell-binding. Yes, Stephanie did decide to fool around with the actual image of vampires, but in her defense, I found it creative. She really used her mind to come up with things about ‘her’ version of vampires. Yes, gruesome, but not terrible.
Her character development was great! I loved almost every character; (with the exception of Edward) they all were unique and pleasant to read about.
There were only two things I didn’t like what came from this book. These two things were not Stephanie Meyer’s fault intentionally. The movies just didn’t fit the same feeling the book did. They weren’t terrible, but not something I would ever buy. Edward was described to be beautiful, but the actor (Robert Pattison) just didn’t fit the bill. No one is perfect and that’s why they had a hard time fitting the character description.
The other thing was the excessive use of vampires now. Every book I see now seems to have something to do with vampires. I just thought that authors weren’t being very original, and although their writing may have been great, because of the fact that vampires were involved, I declined the book. I also was appalled when I walked into Chapters and found the Darkest Powers (The Summoning, the Awakening and the Reckoning) series in the vampire section.
I’m not a big romance fan, but overall the book was spectacular.
