Anabel - Youth and Innocence
Chapter One:
“A bleeding heart, an empty soul...the eyes of a hypocrite, the hands of a painter...All of these in the darkness, without sight, I use to call you, master…Lord of Might.
My Satan, my Beelzebub…I call you…I call you…I-”
As the shadows swirled around the chanting girl, faster and faster they began to engulf the room, turning it cold and bleak. On the floor, at the center of the room a portal opened where there stood a burning whicker man over the master’s rune. The portal quickly sucked both hay and flame into the purgatory and grew stronger and wider the more the child chanted.
A huge demon hand finally forced its way through the portal tearing the fabric of time and space with its huge grotesque nails. The demon, clearly weakened by his prison was growing stronger, strong enough to once and for all engulf the world in flames…
“Honey, dinner is ready!” interrupted a sweet voice from downstairs.
At that moment, the chanting girl lost all concentration. As her chant ceased abruptly, the portal disappeared, leaving the screaming demon trapped and frustrated at how close he had been to tasting sweet freedom.
“Urgh! Mom!” she shouted, taking off her satanic mask and bloody tunic. “Be down in a sec…” she sighed. Quickly, she forced the curtains open to allow a ray of light to flood into her room. Tip toeing across, trying not to step on the burning bones of her sacrifices she moved swiftly towards her satanic alter (a.k.a. her bed) to unchain her core sacrifice. “Sorry Sue” she said as she removed the gag out of her mouth “maybe I’ll get to sacrifice you some other time”.
With that said she unlocked the shackles on the sacrifice's ankles and untied the rope securing her arms to the bed.
“Umm, by the way Sue, can you help me tidy up? This place is a real tip…”
“Sorry Anabel, I would but…the clock says its past seven and mums probably waiting for me. Dinner gets served on the dot and it’s probably getting cold…mum gets real angry at me when I’m late- so…I have to go- hey, ill give you a tip…those bloodstains and scorch marks come off really easy with vanish.”
“Oh thanks” she sighed, staring at the floor “well, ill see you to the door”
“Thanks…look, don’t feel so bad Jane I’m sure the Dark Lord won’t go away- we’ll get him to rule over our dimension some other time.”
“Yeah ok…” said Anabel feeling better. “Thanks, you’re a real good friend”
“What are best friends for?” said Sue smiling
The children walked down the stairs slowly. At the foot of the stairs they gave each other a hug and Sue left. As Anabel closed the door her mother approached her smiling, with a tray of freshly baked cookies. Anabel took one, ate it and sat at the dining table. Staring at the shiny silver cutlery perfectly laid out in front of her she started pouting.
“What’s the problem honey?”
“Mom…you interrupted the ceremony again!”
“I’m sorry if I interrupted your game, but I made your favorite if that makes you feel better....”
“Spaghetti and meatballs?”
“Yes.” She said smiling
“Thanks mom, I love you”
“I love you too” she said hugging her “see, Dad leaving hasn’t been so bad has it?”
“Nope, we don’t need him, we are coping fine”
