A Multimedia Intercultural project between USA, Romania
Your Project:
Bentley University students and "Politehnica" University of Timisoara students will use Web 2.0 tools to work together to create a multimedia presentation on a topic related to multimedia technology and culture.
Groups:
There are 26 UPT students and approximately 40 Bentley students. Bentley students may work with UPT students, preferably, or friends or relatives who they know who do not live in the Boston area. We'll aim for groups of 2 UPT students with 3 Bentley students, or 2 or 3 Bentley students with others. This will be 13 groups.
Your group should create a web page on this site to help you collaborate.
Your group site pages, created by us, include a blank web page, a Wall, and a FileCabinet. Write on your wall page every time you work on the project to let your partners know you were here. Use the file cabinet to share documents with your team.
Create an attractive one-page website in Google sites that presents some of your findings or opinions on the topic. Include hyperlinks to any articles, web sites, or other resources that you referenced in your research. Embed (or link to) any multimedia that you create or find useful on this page.
If your group creates a PowerPoint presentation, it should be no more than ten slides (excluding a title slide.) Use Google Presentations so that everyone in your group can contribute to the slides in the presentation, and then export the Google presentation into PowerPoint to add animations or nicer formatting. Bentley students can upload the PowerPoint to SlideShare.net and then post a link to it on the Google site page. (Google sites won't allow you to include embed tags). Or embed the Google presentation.
If your group creates a video, it should be between 3 and 5 minutes long. UPT students can do the editing. Bentley students might create video clips that they can send to the UPT students to include in the video. You might also include a short video as part of (embedded in) your PowerPoint presentation. Watch these videos to learn how to embed a video in PowerPoint 2003 or PowerPoint 2007.
Communicate at least twice (with conversations no more than one week apart) in real time using VOIP audio or video conferencing with your international partners. Use either Skype (skype.com), Google Talk, MeBeam (http://mebeam.com) . Bentley students should record the call using Camtasia (download the trial version from http://techsmith.com or use it in Smith 234 or 212 labs) , and post the video to this site (or to your blog) and link to this site. To record Skype audio or video calls, read about a program called Pamela and try it first! Or use Jing, and record the first 5 minutes of video, upload it to Screencast.com and post hyperlinks to it.
Use other web-based communication mechanisms (email, instant messaging, etc.) as needed.
Please record at least some of the audio or video from each conference call and post to this site.
Each time you work on this project, please add an entry to the log page for your group.
