1. Easy Rider © 1984/1985 by Logan Mitchell Sr, All Rights Reserved - I composed this song sometime around 1984/1985 while I was stationed in Yokosuka Japan for medical shore duty due to having bad knees when I was stationed there onboard the US Navy Combat Stores supply ship, the USS White Plains AFS-4. When I composed this song it was done at the home of my good friends John Gilbert from Philadelphia PA & his Japanese wife Mayumi Gilbert. They had a Yamaha DX-7 digital synthesizer, a Casio MT-68 mini keyboard & a Teac Tascam Porta-One 4-track cassette tape recorder/player. I decided to create my own song while they were thinking of something to play since John played the soprano saxophone & Mayumi played keyboards. After about 30 minutes of learning to use the Porta-Studio, getting the organ & bass guitar sounds on the DX-7 then getting the drumbeat from MT-68 I did several "dry runs", then when I felt comfortable enough I did a "final take" and laid down the final cut. This was my first time using any of that equipment so when I got my first Porta-Studio, the Tascam Porta-Two, I was able to do more multi-track songs based on that experience.
2. Take It Easy © 1988 by Logan Mitchell Sr, All Rights Reserved - This song was composed by myself & John Gilbert sometime around 1988 with me playing the Yamaha DX-100 bass line & the electronic piano line as well as the Korg DDM-110 drum machine. I used my brand new Teac Porta-Two Portastudio to record & mixdown these tracks aboard the Oldendorf during my time off. I asked John to play his soprano saxophone on this tune since I felt that would give the song more "life". Once he & I laid down the original tracks I decided that it would be a good idea for us to make a video of us playing the tune, so sometime between 1986 & 1989 I rented a small studio room at Mr Tadao Yamaguchi's store, Yamaguchi Music, which was located right outside of the Navy base where John & I were stationed in Yokosuka Japan. I recorded us on my 8mm video camera. We just let the pre-finished song play while we appeared to actually play the song live. Imagine that, two musicians playing 4 instruments all at once during the early years of MIDI, but we never used it as each track was recorded one at a time.
3. The Cruiser - TO BE UPLOADED AT A LATER DATE
4. The Runner © 1988 by Logan Mitchell Sr, All Rights Reserved - This song was composed by me sometime around 1988 while I was stationed in Yokosuka Japan onboard the US Navy Destroyer, USS Oldendorf DD-972. I used my Yamaha DX-100 to produce the vibraphone, electronic piano & bass guitar sounds. The drum sounds came from me programming my Korg DDM-110 drum machine & I used my brand new Teac Porta-Two Portastudio. As you can probably tell, I like to use tight & interesting drumbeats with a constantly grooving bassline that is appropriately laced with just the right touch of electronic piano to create a really nice rhythm section.
5. Song For Louise (version 2) - TO BE UPLOADED AT A LATER DATE
