Poster stands

Boards and frames for poster sessions

As part of its mission to support the research enterprise in the Greater Portland scientific and engineering community, the Columbia-Willamette Chapter of Sigma Xi  (the C-W Chapter) makes poster boards and frames available for rent at a nominal charge. There are 99 double-sided poster display boards (4 feet by 6 feet, plastic) with supporting frames, which can be assembled in rows of up to 8 display boards (16 posters). The frames are designed for easy assembly, disassembly, and transportation. The boards display the Sigma Xi chapter logo and name on both sides. Poster dimensions should be less than 104 cm high x 145 cm wide (41" x 57"), landscape orientation. The poster frames are stored and their rental managed on the Portland State University campus.

Groups interested in renting frames and boards should make a reservation request at least two weeks in advance, using this form. A calendar of existing reservations is below. Expect an email response from a Chapter representative, inviting you to arrange mutually convenient times for pickup and return of the equipment. Once the number of frame units to be rented is definite, expect an emailed invoice from the Chapter. The rental fee of $5 per frame+board unit, per conference or event, is payable to the Chapter. The rental fee covers parts and maintenance.

·      Renters of the boards and frames are responsible for transportation of the displays from, and return to, the storage location at Portland State University, as well as set up and tear-down. The three diagrams at the foot of this page show how the frame + board units are assembled; further instruction will be provided at the time of pickup.

·    In  preparing the stands for return, please 1) remove all push-pins, clamps, and tape; 2) don't try to take apart the foot pieces, since they're permanently glued.

The chapter is grateful to Dr. Andrew Fountain (PSU Geography) for the innovative design of the equipment; Dr. Erik Sánchez (PSU Physics) for its construction; and to Dr. Scott Burns (PSU Geology) for users' access and instruction in the use of the equipment.
