On the Home ribbon, select Move -> Rules
Choose Manage Rules and Alerts
Click on New Rule tab
- A new window called 'Rules Wizard' should appear
Select a Template:
Under Start from a blank rule -> Apply rule on messages I receive
Click [Next].
Select Conditions:
If you want all your messages to be forwarded, leave everything unchecked.
Click [Next]
You will get a message "This rule will be applied to every message you receive. Is this correct?"
Click [Yes].
Select Actions:
Check the box beside 'forward it to people or public group'
In the lower box (Step 2), click on the words 'people or public group'.
Your address book will open in a new window.
Type your 'preferred" email address - the address to an account you check regularly - in the box in the bottom beside [To->]
Click [OK]
Click [Next]
Select exception(s) (if necessary):
If you want all messages to be forwarded, do not click any boxes.
Click [Next]
Finish rule setup:
Under Specify a name for this rule, type in a name, such as 'forward to gmail' or 'forward to personal email'
When you are ready to start forwarding your messages, put a check in the box beside Turn on this rule.
(optional) You can also Run this rule now on messages already in “Inbox”.
Click [Finish]
Someone had told me you could color-code messages in a variety of ways. I had never done it, but it was really easy to figure out. (View-> View Settings-> Conditional Formatting). It’s magic!
I always knew I was under-using the features in Outlook. This one is really, really helpful!
