Corner of Twenty-Third and Spruce Streets (Southwest of Intersection)
Past1: 1953; Past2: 1963; Present: 2010
This corner has gone through many changes throughout its history, although keeping to a theme of mainly only food stores. In 1953, it was a small market with frozen foods and soft drinks. This was most likely more of a corner-store-like market. In 1963, ten years later, it is a bit more of a busy-looking store, probably meaning that it was a slightly more grocer-like market. Finally, it is currently a small gourmet deli called "Bacchus."
Corner of Twenty-Third and Spruce Streets (Northwest of Intersection)
Past: 1968; Present: 2010
The corner is basically the same architecturally, although the content of the first floor has changed. What was once a drug store and corner store that sold ice cream is now a dry-cleaners. As it seems, the neighborhood used to have many drug stores, but now has many dry-cleaners.
Corner of Twenty-Third and Spruce Streets (Northeast of Intersection)
Past: 1953; Present: 2010
The corner has changed rather drastically architecturally. However, one thing that has not changed is that it was some sort of restaurant or diner. What was once the "Fountain Luncheon" is now a pizzeria called "Mama Palma's."
Corner of Twenty-Second and Pine Streets
Past: 1968; Present: 2010
The corner is basically the same architecturally, although the content of the first floor has changed. This first was a corner store, apparently very popular amongst young people in the time, and next to it was a laundromat. Now, the corner is a dry-cleaners with a new cafe called "Cafe Karma" neighboring it.
Corner of Twenty-Fourth and Lombard Streets (Southwest of Intersection)
Past: unknown; Present: 2010
This corner has always been a very eventful corner. In the past picture, it seems as though it is some sort of bar or restaurant. Now, it is a small gourmet deli called "Tastebuds." Between these two, it was once a Chinese restaurant, Italian restaurant, and another Italian restaurant.
Corner of Twenty-Fourth and Lombard Streets (Northwest of Intersection)
Past: 1964; Present: 2010
This is yet another changing corner. It appears that in 1964, it was a store of come kind, probably a corner-store that sold snacks and food. Although it is now a hair-cutter's called "Barber on 24th," it was once a bakery and a different barber.
