Map of part of Ward 8
From Eighteenth to Nineteenth Streets and between Locust and Chestnut Streets. This is the Northeast corner of the neighborhood, and includes Rittenhouse Square, one of the original four squares of Philadelphia. Most of the houses around the park are larger, and some made of stone, which coincides with the real estate of the area today; higher class, expensive housing surrounds the park.

From Eighteenth to Twenty-second Streets and between Locust and Chestnut Streets. Further displaying the prevalence of churches, there are two in this span: the St. Paul's Second Reform Church on the 2100 block of Chestnut, and the Holy Trinity P. E. Church on the corner of Nineteenth and Walnut.

Map of part of Ward 7
From Nineteenth to Twenty-second Streets and between South and Pine Streets. This stretch includes a yarn and cloth factory, Kershaw Worsted Co. Thinking of the neighborhood now, it is difficult to imagine a factory in the middle of the primarily residential area.
Map of parts of Ward 7 and 8
From Twenty-second Street to the Schuylkill River and between Pine and Locust Streets. The area along the Schuylkill, which is now the Schuylkill River Park, used to be extremely industrial. It consisted of a freight yard, the Philadelphia Granite & Blue Stone Co., and the Tracy Worsted Mills.
Map of parts of Wards 7 and 8
From Twenty-second to Twenty-fourth and between Locust and Pine Streets. There are many row houses, most of which are made of brick, although some are wood, and two on the center right are made of stone.
Map of parts of Ward 7 and 8
From Twenty-fifth Street to the Schuylkill River and between Locust and Pine Streets. There are more wood houses toward here than toward the east, although most are still made of wood. There are also a few of stone. There is a freight yard where Schuylkill River Park is now.
Map of part of Ward 8
From Twenty-second Street to the Schuylkill River and between Chestnut and Locust Streets. Again, there is a mix of brick and wood. There is also an iron train shed connecting to the railroad, which has its building on twenty-fifth and chestnut.
