Wild Didcot Cafe 2022

WAS AN INSPIRING AND FUN DAY FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!

Art and crafts, quizzes, games, a treasure hunt and advice, all in one place!

Visitos found out how to bring more wildlife back to their gardens and local spaces. There was lots of free activities and expert advice.

Admission was free.

We held workshops so visitors can build your own BUG HOTEL or HEDGEHOG HOUSE. Workshops were not free but visitors could take theor hedgehog house or bug hotel home!

Visitors could pick up some ideas on how to improve their local patch and tell us what they had already seen in their gardens. Experts were on hand with advice from wildlife organisations such as Butterfly Conservation, BBOWT and the RSPB.

Many of the activities were free and local businesses kindly donated freebies.

We launched our Wild Didcot project and our Wildlife Garden Charter - people signed up and agreed to make some important changes to the way they gardened. Actions like planting more bee-friendly flowers, making a hole in their fence for the local hedgehogs, a bowl of water (or a pond!), all make a difference.

Workshops

Hedgehog houses or bug hotels were built on the day.

Visitors also learnt more about where to site the shelters and how to help local hogs and bugs.
