What is Wild Didcot?

What is Wild Didcot?

Didcot is growing and expanding, and green spaces in and around our town are shrinking.

Didcot is a great place to live! We would like to make it even better by making it a haven for wildlife: for bees and other pollinators, birds, hedgehogs, bats, frogs and more.

Would you like to help create a network of wildlife-friendly patches across town, connected to the wider landscape, to support wildlife, help nature recovery and fight climate change?

It may be in a pot, on a windowsill, in a small garden, at school or at work. No action is too small!

We can all help by:

- Planting native trees and pollinator-friendly shrubs and flowers

- Adding or nurturing ponds and other habitats (including meadows)

- Providing shelter for birds, bats and hedgehogs

- Using peat-free compost and no pesticide

- Making space under your fence so hedgehogs and frogs can visit

Restoring nature will help wildlife cope better with the impacts of climate change. It will also increase carbon capture.

And of course, we all know that connecting with nature is good for our mental and physical health!

Wild Didcot is led and run by Didcot residents. Let us know if you'd like to get involved! Please message sustainabledidcot@gmail.com if you are interested or join the Facebook chat group www.facebook.com/groups/wilddidcot/
