Foulds Family

Arthur Foulds Alan, Arthur, Shirley, Geoff, Peter and Brian Foulds

Records of the Foulds Family show that they have lived in the Nottingham area since at least the 1770s - originally living in Sutton in Ashfield, before members of the family moved to Arnold in the North of the City, and later to The Meadows area in the centre of Nottingham. The direct ancestry has been traced back to Thomas Foulds d.1846, age 74, who lived in Sutton in Ashfield with his wife Ann Woolley. Thomas was a schoolmaster and a member of a musical "glee" group and composed a glee for the new Queen Victoria "Victoria" along with many other glees such as "Sherwood Forest". Their son, Thomas, lived in Arnold with his wife Mary Ann Knott from the early 1800s until his death in 1877.
