Prayers of the People

Prayers of the Community - September 24, 2017

Generous and loving God, you surround us with all things necessary for our common life: Grant us such fulfillment in our life and work, that we may reach out in service and compassion toward others, saying: “hear our prayer.”

Bless us as we labor in your vineyard, O God, that we may be fruitful, as we live our lives in a manner worthy of the gospel, and live faithfully in your loving presence. God of love…

Hear our prayer.

Today in the Cycles of Prayer we pray for the Episcopal Church of Southeast Florida; for the National Indigenous Bishop (Mark McDonald) and the Anglican Council of Indigenous Peoples. We pray for Bishop Barbara Anderson, for the Territory of the People and; for the Lutheran Church of the Lower Fraser Valley Conference of the British Columbia Synod. In our Diocese, we pray for the Staff and Students at the Atlantic School of Theology; the University of King’s College, and; Kings-Edgehill School, Windsor. Also for the programmes of Discernment, Training and Formation for Ordained Ministry. We pray for the Meeting of the Bishop’s Advisory Council, Curcillo and the Diocesan Youth Conference. God of love…

Hear our prayer.

Give the bread from heaven to all who yearn and the bread from earth to all in need, that every person may have all things necessary for their wholeness and health. Be with those who endure violence, poverty, injustice and oppression. We pray for all people throughout the world enduring extreme weather and earthquakes. God of love…

Hear our prayer.

Inspire our nation with honorable industry and a just economy, that every person may find meaningful work and a proper return for their labour. Encourage this community, that all may live together in a way guided by your love, that we may standing firm in one spirit, striving side by side for goodness. God of love…

Use only if there’s a name to be prayed for…

We pray for all those who have died in the peace of Christ, and for those whose faith is known to you alone, that they may have a place in your eternal kingdom, especially

-

… and we pray for all who mourn. God of love…

Hear our gladness and joy as we offer our thanksgivings, especially for our gathering today, for the Stories and Stitches show this week (may all the artist, volunteers and visitors be filled with joy), and we give thanks for the Phase II concert, raising money for our Christmas outreach efforts. God of love…

Hear our prayer.

You call your children at every hour into your divine work of reconciliation, O Holy One: Strengthen us by your Spirit, that we may be fruitful servants in our time in your vineyard, through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
