Prayers of the People

Prayers of the Community - June 25, 2017

O God you embrace our whole lives through your Son Jesus Christ, grant that we may walk in newness of life as we pray for the needs of the world, saying: Hear our prayer.

Let your Holy Spirit empower your Church, that all who are baptized into the death of Christ may be dead to sin and alive to you. Today in our cycle of prayer we pray for the Diocese of Nyahururu and the Maralal Area (Kenya); the clergy, and people of the Diocese of the Arctic; The dean, council, and congregations of the Prince Albert Conference of the Saskatchewan Synod of the Lutheran Church; and the National Indigenous Bishop (Mark McDonald) and the Anglican Council of Indigenous Peoples. In our Diocese, we pray for the retired clergy and clergy widows of the Chebucto Region. We give thank for events this past week that celebrate National Aboriginal Day and we pray for those responsible for implementing the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. God of love:

               Hear our prayer.

Let your peace renew the face of the earth in every nation, that you may bless and be with those in any need: Let your love enfold the disinherited, dispossessed, and refugees; those who are oppressed and live in poverty; those who suffer jealousy and prejudice; those affected by drought, famine, or flood; and those who suffer from acts of terrorism. Restore wholeness and peace to this broken world. God of love:

               Hear our prayer.

Let your joy bring peace to everyone in our community and inspire us to walk in the way of the cross. We ask you to be with those who visit our Island this year – that their visit will be safe and joyful: we pray for all on holidays: for our country as we celebrate 150 years. Hear our thanksgivings this day for all the ways you bless us, we give thanks especially for Clar Fradsham, and we thank you for the many years of service he has given to your church and we pray that his retirement is filled with fulfillment. God of love:

               Hear our prayer.

Hear and accept our prayers of healing and wholeness on behalf of those we know who are ill at home or in the hospital, especially:

  •

…and for others, we may name out loud or in our hearts…

·

be with them and let them know of your love and mercy. We remember those who have been united to Christ and those whose faith is known to you alone, especially…

·       Saul Nosanchuk

that they be united with Christ in his resurrection. God of love:

               Hear our prayer.

Eternal God, you create us by your power and redeem us by your love. Guide and strengthen us by your Spirit, that we may give ourselves today in love and service to one another and to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
