Fall Parent Letter
Dear Parents and Students,
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14). St. Paul’s Christian education programs for students will be resuming soon and we are looking forward to a fun year of learning more about our faith!
Wednesday Bible School is offered to students in preschool (age 4) through 6th grade. Classes take place from 4:00 to 5:30PM each Wednesday throughout the year on the days school is in session and will begin September 13th. Students may ride the Cumberland bus directly from school (Ascension Academy- regular bus leaving Ascension to Cumberland schools, then get on bus #24 or Cumberland Public Schools- bus #24) to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Please inform the school of this change to your child’s normal pick-up routine. Wednesday school activities include: an afternoon snack, Bible learning and faith integration, crafts, music, guest speakers, drama, games, and more. It is a great opportunity for students to grow in faith and grow as friends. Wednesday church service follows at 6:00PM.
Confirmation Preparation is offered from 4:00PM-5:30PM on Wednesdays for 7th and 8th grades. Students may ride the bus directly from school on Wednesdays - bus #24. Please inform the school of this change to your child’s normal pick-up routine. There is Confirmation Bible study from 8:00AM-8:45AM Sundays for students in the 7th-12th grades and will begin on September 10th. There will also be one Sunday evening a month for 7th-12th grades to meet. More information is available in a mailing sent to those in 7th-12th grade or by contacting the church office. Confirmation is led by Pastor John Miels and is an opportunity for students to learn more about the Lutheran Christian faith. This group is also considered the Jr. and Sr. High Youth Group and will be involved in different youth activities throughout the year. Stay tuned! If you fill out an online registration for Confirmation, there are other papers that must be signed and turned in with a physical copy. Please reach out to the church office if you do not receive these in the mail.
Sunday School is offered each Sunday morning before 9:00AM service at the educational hour (8:00AM-8:45AM).
~ 3 Year Olds-6th Graders will meet for Sunday School
~ 7th-12th Graders will meet for Confirmation Preparation Bible Study
~ Adults will meet for Bible Study
*If you are in need of nursery care for those younger than 3 while you attend Bible Study, please let us know and we will work to accommodate those needs. They are always welcome to join you during Adult Bible Study as well.
JR. + SR. High Youth Group is offered for youth in 7th-12th grade each Wednesday night following church from 7:00PM-8:30PM. We will be diving into God’s Word together, growing our relationship with others and with Christ, playing games, and enjoying some delicious food.
Rally “Sundae” (the first day of Sunday School) is Sunday, September 10th. Please join us for Sunday School, Confirmation Preparation, and Adult Bible Study at 8:00AM followed by worship at 9:00AM with ice cream sundaes and fellowship after.

Please also join the Sunday School/Wednesday School Remind class if your child is in either. This will allow you to receive important information throughout the year. Parents, please make sure you are the one in the class and not your child.
