Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
When a child longs for their next Religious Education session, displays a new found love of silence, or searches the house for “holy things” to make a prayer corner, this is GOOD NEWS!
We are very blessed to have this program for our 3 to 5 year olds. It is called Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (www.cgsusa.org), is a hand’s on way of learning about and loving Jesus and our Catholic faith. It is a gift in our church that began in 1954 in Rome (with official approbation) under the direction of Dr Sofia Cavalletti, a biblical scholar.
In a very special room called the “Atrium”- prayer, work, and community spirit all come alive. As soon as you walk into the atrium, there is a sense of a “presence”, that all of us long for. It feels sacred, intimate, and peaceful. Scripture, Liturgy and the traditions of our faith are evident in the concrete materials. They serve as guides with carefully prepared presentations for the children’s reverent use. They meet the Lord in a personal way.
