Winter 2011

Looking forward to winter!

This image is actually from the old Finca Luna, and reminds me of the stillness & peace of being home, in this wonderful landscape. I used to love just sitting (sometimes dancing) with Salamanca on the roof terrace, watching the sunsets.

(Salamanca is my little dog & constant adoring shadow)

This winter I want to stay home & cozy, writing lots.

Its so blissful this time of year .. as it's most of the year bar summer for me - when the few weeks of too much heat make me anxious for the baby trees & fire risks ...

Now in autumn, as in spring, the weather is totally perfect, and in winter it gets cooler and rainier, which I also love because the whole landscape goes super-green and lush, and I love cosy days inside as much as I love fresh sunny days outside.

And this winter we've got two very interesting people coming to help out: Jill who is an expert gardener (has run some CSAs in the past) and Jon who's also a fairly experienced permi ... and they're both coming for 3-4 months.

So we should have plenty of time (& talent!) to get the 'show on the road' with both gardens & forest gardens (which have been suffering with neglect lately, after a year of both me & Julio very busy elsewhere...)

We're having productive skype meetings to organize the works to come. Am looking forward to having the bulk of the finca responsibilities taken off my shoulders so I can really focus on the PDC+++ course, the e-book and hopefully with César getting our first electronic book out!

I think it's very important now with all the demonstrations movements happening, to help people get to the bigger picture and heading in the direction of real sustainable progress, making structural local community changes.

Just sent off the first article to EcoHabitar, that I completed thanks to a professional journalist that's on our course, who decided to make helping me with articles one of her design projects. Will translate and post links here eventually.. am very happy with it!
