5 may 12 - just did this summary video of the last class I gave for our students in the PDC+++ Course*
(which is THE most amazing permaculture course I've ever attended, or taught, or even heard of ... :)
It's so interesting, a year on from starting this course, to notice how we need to keep suggesting adjustments ... like explaining how it's actually the Design Portfolio which is the most important, different & powerful learning tool we're offering on this course, not all the amazing classes ...
And we're now compiling all the info-wikis (see below) into this:
am busy writing
this amazing book,
the Integral PermaCulture Designers Manual
22 feb 11 - exciting to hear this talk (pres. below), just as we are starting our re-designed google-sites personal learning environments for the PDC+++ course starting soon. And interesting to reflect on the fact that most of our permaculture colleagues still today disdain the idea of digital portfolios, something we put forward way back in 2006 when we proposed a new and multi-functional diploma process which morphed into the Chaordic Permaculture Institute ... and re-submitted in full multimedia at EUPC, last summer ... to no avail.

These are the various Wikis I started creating with a few enterprising NodoEspiral colleagues in 2006
Slowly, a large collection of wikis is evolving into an 'online permaculture book'
Here some of the components explained in English:
Feb 2011 - Now we're contemplating integrating all of these wikis
<<<< into a big e-book on Integral Permaculture, hopefully with some help from the first PDC+++ students, under the PermaCultureScience.org domain
Also, starting to use online conferencing for permaculture classes, and encouraging people to immediately start doing in the own homes... and it's great to be able to follow (and tweak!) their progress through their blogs ..
Really enjoyed Helen's presentation today, and looking forward to following these people : http://www.integrating-technology.org

What is most exciting for me in all this is not only the education revolution it is bringing about, but that all of these are early experiments in the participatory & full-on engaged democracy which we need in order to really change society and overthrow institutional oppression of all kinds.
This seems to annoy some of our permaculture colleagues but I've long thought that the sooner schools & collages (of any kind) as institutions die a gentle death from lack of use, the better in terms of people empowerment: self-directed and action learning isn't just our right and passion, it's how we keep thinking, evolving and in charge of our own lives and therefore un-subjectable.
On the other hand, I also think Helen's warning is important:
"I propose that an electronic portfolio without clear links to standards is just a multimedia presentation or a fancy electronic resume or a digital scrapbook. Without standards as the organizing basis for a portfolio, the collection becomes just that...a collection, haphazard and without structure; the purpose is lost in the noise, glitz and hype. High technology disconnected from a focus on curriculum standards will only exacerbate the lack of meaningful integration of technology to improve teaching and learning. " (Barrett, 1998)
Action Learning
All designed for Sharing Surplus
Create Fertile Connexions and to Multi-Function
This wiki was started as a back-up resource for a presentation I sent to a popular 'eco-fair' called BioCultura, in 2007.
Now it is one of the 'chapters' of didactic resources for our Module 1. Most recent addition has been Andy Langford and Jane Hera's very good Meetings Designs manual, translated into spanish.
This is a true action-learning publication about action-learning: apart from giving the basic theory in detail, here is where participants of the annual Action Learning Programme put up their profiles and their process diary for the course of their stay.
for Finca Luna
M2 y M3 - Bosques Comestibles
This was the first wiki created (2006) and quickly became perhaps the most comprehensive source of Spanish materials about money design, complementary currencies and all sorts of related topics.
Here we have a big selection of Articles which we keep adding to, there are also pages we created following each of the 4 conferences on this topic that have been organized in Spain, one of our students has added his design for a local lets scheme here, and we also collect videos here and a comprehensive list of links.
An email group created as a pre-conference to the first money conference still operates and occasionally sends news or questions and in the past has served as a very good study group.

an Online PC Magazine
Here I have collected some of what I consider the most important or impactful articles for permaculture designers to 'think out of the mold', as they represent perhaps the most radical points of view about some of the crucial conversations we are having - or should be having - in the permaculture community.
