Am really enjoying this process of preparing for the presentation of 8th Life, now with it's own web, http://8thlife.org It's a lot of fun, exciting and, especially ... I am learning so much!
Creating websites has been for some time a way for me to design projects, to think through all the details, to order and plan... bit like writing up a business plan, only I prefer doing it on the web, adding as many images and references or connections as I can. I call it painting with light, and it's really a co-creation because there it can be connected to everything that the project builds on, weaving a beautiful tapestry of meaning - a new story.
So much more juicy than writing up some document on my own, and you can share it instantly with others... which is the whole point, so why wait.
I really take very seriously the 'multifunction where possible' permaculture principle and I figured that on top of those functions of
2. getting feedback (thanks Nuccia, César, Esther, Marco!)
3. weaving with all other references I find on the web (and learning so much in the process!) and of course
4. presenting the project
... on top of all these I can easily add another one;
5. to make an educational and inspirational resource for anyone who finds it.
.. and this is why this web is taking so long. But it's huge fun, and it's really useful that I have a deadline of 1st August to get the presentation video ready and up on theIdea for Humanity web.
I've never made a video before so that's another adventure. I have stolen Julio's mega-mobile phone (swapped it with mine) so that I can use the incorporated video cam (already been practicing, it's so cool!), Esther has gone on an intensive self-teaching video-editing course (on her computer, she's so lovely and such a great technical assistant, helping me get audio up on the EcoEscuela.net online courses for the first time a few months ago), and Marco is helping me practice my presentation skills (cos he speaks english), and doing locations-spotting :)
I started with the web in order to clarify the ideas as much as possible so I can best summarize them ... which is what am finding most difficult with all this... ¿how on earth do you get across this weird set of ideas to complete strangers in a 5 minute video?
So the latest idea is doing 8 short sections of one or half minute each, on each of the Keywords (see page 1 of http://8thlife.org), in each of the 8 shares of the finca (so you also get an idea of the location), and possibly also including each with one of the 8 questions we've been taught we can use as 'hooks' when doing effective presentations. Phew!
But right now.. off to care for the baby Forest Garden in Flora, and listen to the latest Feminine Power conference.
