The (now more-or-less moribund) IEM Google Group (discussion forum). Its main use is to give you a feel for the sorts of things that people in the IEM community discuss.
The iemHUB - A "community center for developing and sharing knowledge and tools for environmental systems analysis".
This is highly relevant to STEEMI for two reasons:
- First, it is a gateway to a large and reasonably coherent community interested in the sorts of things that we are - almost by definition, integrated models of ecological and environmental systems.
- Second, it provides a potential new home for STEEMI, in place of this Google Site, since the HUB has been specifically designed to provide the collection of facilities (web site, wiki, discussion forum, repository of resources - which we are using our Google Site for.
Opportunities
We can tell a large and active community about our work. I think they will be particularly interested, because quite a few of the models we are working on are broad (whole-system) ratherthan specific; and many in that community seem pretty unaware of the possibilities offered by visual modelling approaches.
We can migrate our web site across to iemHUB, setting ourselves up as a Group on that site. This will need a lot of research to see if it meets our needs, but potentially it could provide an environment which is much better for us, since it has been engineered specifically for groups like ours in the first place.
