1...Late Prof. B.SURYANARAIN RAO (1856-1937) (the Grand Father of Dr.B.V.Raman, (the Father of Modern Astrology)), B.A., M.R.A.S., F.R.H.S., had been the Editor of the Astrological Magazine, Member of the Asiatic Society of Bengal, Medico, Legal Society of New York, etc.
The Professor was one of the most famous and knowledgeable Astrologer of his times. The higher the knowledge he had, the more the humble he was. He was initially into legal practice. He mastered Astrology later and wrote many books on variety of subjects, including Astrology and History. The Father of Modern Astrology, Dr. B.V.Raman learnt Astrology under his revered guidance. Both of them, the grandfather and the grandson, were spiritually developed souls, possessed charitable natures and never practised Astrology for money, though money is everyone's necessity. Whatever was offered to them in reward to their Astrological Services, they humbly accepted. Astrology today, in its true form, owes much to both of these great personalities.
The whole basis of Astrology is 'time' and in time lies all success or failure, as Professor remarks--"...Time is everything in the transaction of this world, success and failure depend upon the proper selection of times at which our activities should be begun. In time everything will prove profitable and successful, out of season, our works will fail and cause us loss and worry.." Astrology he considered as a Divine knowledge and "...Knowledge can never be despised by any sane man", so writes he.
Though hardly any prominent saint has ever said in favour of Astrology, read what Professor had to say in favour of Astrology.
"To know in what direction our fortunes will succeed, to know when we have to begin and how to do our work, to find out where and how we fail, to learn which moments are auspicious, to gauge which are unfavourable and injurious to us; to know how long we live, to learn how high our positions will be in finances and political power, to have a clear knowledge of the issues we get, their ages and their respective characteristics, to see beforehand what will be our domestic felicity and the agreement of wife and the nature f our friends and relations, to possess information about the progress of our education and knowledge and to learn where, when, how and under what circumstances we close our earhtly careers; all these are sources of knowledge, which will be of the highest value for man."
" No other science can give help in predicting the future. Astrology alone can do it."
"Can our readers honestly name any other sciences which can give man such valuable information to guide him in his future life. No science ever pretended to venture into the fields of future prediction. Is it Sanity on the part of any cultured person to reject such a valuable source of knowledge ? I have made so many national and individual predictionswhich have turned out wonderfully accurate. I am neither a God nor a Devil. If my future predictions proved correct, how could they have been correct if their is no truth, and when my predictions were completely based upon the principles of Astrology. Rejection of valuable sources of knowledge, coming from whatever directions it may- shows greater idioticy and senseless stubbornness than taking such information, putting it to test and then found valuable, accepting it."
"Bigotry and prejudice in any individual, however great he may be in a department of knowledge, are unjustifiable, and lead him into very false positions, with refernece to scientific progress."
"Astrology is a noble science and will be found to be simply invaluable..."(Extracts from the translations of Srisarwarthachintamani by Prof. Rao)
