I am a Georgia native who grew up around Atlanta. My neighborhood was very diverse. My friends were Russian, Vietnamese, Honduran, Jamaican - it was AWESOME. Having the world represented in my community, it made my curious about different languages and cultures eventually leading me to a degree in Spanish from the University of Georgia - GO DAWGS!
But I said goodbye to Georgia and hello to Jacksonville, FL 9 years ago. This is my 6th year at Douglas Anderson, and my 10th year in the classroom. I love what the students at DA have to contribute to my classroom - dance majors showing the class what they learned from a Flamenco workshop, a classical guitar student recommending a Spanish guitarist, an art student providing commentary about a Picasso painting...I think you get the gist...They have so much to offer! I am blessed to call DASOTA home!
