You can contribute up to 16 hours of sick leave per year to the bank.
The bank can hold up to 6,000 hours total.
The bank is for serious, long-term situations, such as:
Your own catastrophic injury, long-term illness, or serious chronic condition.
A child, spouse/partner, or parent with a serious condition who needs your care.
You must use all of your own sick and personal leave first before using the bank.
A medical provider must certify that the situation qualifies.
You can receive up to 60 consecutive workdays from the bank, prorated based on your FTE.
You cannot use the bank while receiving Workers’ Compensation, long-term disability, or PERS disability.
Once you donate sick leave hours, you cannot get them back.
A joint District/Association committee reviews requests.
If your request is denied, you can appeal. Missing documentation can be submitted for reconsideration.
The bank does not cover routine illnesses, elective procedures, or situations covered by other leave/insurance programs.
Sick Leave Bank forms are available through the District website under Human Resources.
