Published eight times during the school year, each issue focuses on one of six key reading comprehension strategies – making connections, questioning, visualizing, inferring, summarizing, and synthesizing/transforming – and includes:
-three news stories, written at a level students can understand;
-detailed literacy-based lesson plans, including ready-to-use graphic organizers and criteria for assessment;
-a map assignment featuring a region of Canada highlighted in one of the articles;
-Did You Know? – a non-fiction comic strip featuring background information related to one of the news stories, accompanied by a lesson plan and supporting material.

DESCRIPTION (from the Website): LIVE IT EARTH is the only Canadian company that offers kids, schools and families, mind-blowing online learning about the natural world that takes them from sea to space. We uniquely create ‘live’ programs for home and school classrooms that inspire kids to care for the world around them and empower them to act on that care. Created by educators for educators, they are high-quality and story-rich online learning experiences. Playful and resonant, we take kids inside experiences and help them inhabit new worlds. Rather than making them passive viewers, we put them at the centre of the story, giving them the chance to try on new possibilities and to follow their curiosity, wherever it leads. Along the way, we fire up their senses and push the doors of their minds wide. We invite our kids and schools, not to ‘watch’ a program, but to LIVE IT.
