Meet the Staff

The SD46 SPIDER team for the 2022-2023 school year are:

Sheena Careless (Teacher Co-ordinator) has a long history with out-of-the-classroom learning. She has spent much of her teaching career working in outdoor, experiential education and also has experience with Waldorf Education, but has been working with School District 46 since 2011. She has worked with SPIDER Elementary since 2015.  She grew up on the Sunshine Coast and is so happy to now be sharing its beaches and forests with her own family. She is available Monday to Thursday to help you with anything SPIDER.

Ron Fremont (Teacher Consultant) is excited to be joining the SPIDER team for 2024/25 school year. He’s been teaching on the Sunshine Coast since 2019 and lives in Halfmoon Bay. During any free time you’ll find him hiking, playing tennis, gardening or cooking up some tasty vegetarian food. He has a Master of Education in Leadership and Administration and has taught mainly at the elementary level. He has been a Learning Services teacher, coordinated Gifted/Twice Exceptional programs and has been and International Baccalaureate teacher. His educational values include: collaboration, integrity and respect. He is looking forward to teaching and learning with the SPIDER team.

Rachel Bowering (Administrative Assistant) Rachel can be contacted in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays to assist you with registration, updating student information, ordering resources, and general inquiries.

On leave to travel for 2024-2025, but returning for 2025-2026:

Kari Teichrob (Teacher Consultant) has a passion for experiential learning, especially in outside spaces. She has been working as an Inclusion Support Teacher with SD46 since 2017. In this role, she worked with students and their families to support students’ sense of belonging and educational pathways. Kari enjoys outdoor adventures as well as gardening and rowing closer to home. She is excited about joining the SPIDER program and is available Tuesday to Thursday.
