GETTING THERE:
To get to El Coto, from Somiedo follow the directions to Valle de Lago. The deviation to the right is 2.5 Km after the village, on a curve to the left. Here there is the best parking place, although along the road to El Coto there a few other places. Parking in El Coto is forbidden.
DESCRIPTION:
Follow the road to El Coto and climb through the houses by the main street. At the end of the village, after a fountain where to fill the water bottle, a track continues climbing and takes you directly to the huts of La Braña. All the way it signaled bay white-and-yellow bars. Be aware that it crosses an area of special sensitivity to disturbing, so walking away is forbidden.
The track gains altitude fast, being quite exigent. But it goes in a beech forest of exceptional beauty. Eventually, you will exit the forest, near the top of the climb, where there is more shrubs (mainly heather) and pastures. There is another fountain just before the pass after which the first huts appeared.
The signaled path towards the villa of Llamardal passes between the huts, and descends gently through a shrub land on a steep slope where some wildlife (chamois, deer) can be seen. It has stunning views
The return is by the same way.
