GETTING THERE:
The route starts at the village of Tús, near Balneario de Tús in the Calares del Mundo y la Sima Natural Park Albacete province.
DESCRIPTION:
We can start the route at the Tús village, where the long distance route 66 (G.R.66) passes through the Calar del Mundo, a high altitude plane on a massive mountain of sandstone rock. These flat top mountains are called in this area “calares”, and in other parts “mesas” meaning tables.
The path is signaled with red and white bands visible in some houses walls. It crosses the tiny village and through some olive tree orchards it starts to climb up the valley northwards. For a while it follows a narrow water canal but inside the pine forest it takes it own path.
At a certain point the path converges to the stream in a nice place out of the forest with a little waterfall. Notice a path that also arrives to this point form the other side, as it can be an alternative for coming back to the car, as it is described later.
Our route continues the climbing at a some distance from the stream at first, but lately, it converges again in a beautiful although dried landscape. From time to time, turn round to benefit from the stunning landscape at your back.
This is a route frequented by goats and sheep herds, so our path is sometimes difficult to differentiate from those made by these animals. Anyway, the path follows up the stream by its right side and there are painted signs and cairns. So in a sort time you will arrive to a more flat and rocky area, very wide to the west. Find a good place for restoring water an energy, and when you feel that you have enjoy the peacefulness of the place, think about the return.
As suggested before, once arrive again to the little waterfall, you can take the path to your left. It goes down passing by a farm and after that it arrives to a group of houses. Be aware here, because between them a path goes down straight to Tús crossing the orchards, but it is a bit difficult to find as it passes by a narrow alley between a house and its hen coop. But once there, it is very pleasant and takes you at the road two hundred meters before Tús.
