President / Founder :
Jody Lampin, GISP
Jody is a Certified GIS Professional with over 30 years of GIS experience; and is the Spatial Analyst for the Smith County Appraisal District. Previously, Jody served as the GIS / Mapper for Ted W. Walters & Associates and Acme Map Company, the Director of GIS and Mapping / Records Departments for the Smith County Appraisal District, the Senior GIS Analyst for the City of Tyler and GIS Project Manager for Geo/Info Ltd; and has been GIS Certified by the GIS Certification Institute and ESRI as well. Jody also serves as the Appraisal District’s Representative in the Smith County GIS Consortium, and enjoys volunteering his time in teaching, presenting, demonstrating, and training business professionals, students, and conference attendees on Geographic Information Systems and Technology. Jody is the Founder and President of the Smith County GIS Association and hopes that the Association will continue to grow and benefit its members and all of Smith County. He loves spending time with his family, off-roading, fishing, drawing, playing the bass guitar, and enjoying the outdoors.
Vice-President:
Dan Allee, GISP
Dan has over thirty years of experience in GIS and has been working with ESRI-based products since 1990. He has served in various GIS positions in Municipal Government, Appraisal Districts, the Timber Industry, and Private GIS consulting. Dan has a Forest Technology background from Panola Junior College and is certified by the GIS Certification Institute as a GIS Professional (GISP). Dan is currently the GIS Coordinator for the City of Tyler and has been with the City for over seven years. In his spare time, Dan enjoys participating in competitive archery shoots, fly fishing and kayaking in the mountains of Oklahoma and Arkansas or down in the Texas Hill Country and camping with his family.
Secretary / Treasurer:
Beth Lampin
Beth graduated from The University of Texas at Tyler in 2005 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. While in college, she was a member of the Accounting Society, the Alpha Chi Honor Society, and was President of the VIPatriots, an on-campus recruitment organization. Immediately after graduating from U.T. Tyler, she accepted the position of Business Manager at Smith County Appraisal District, where she was involved in all the Business/Accounting activities of the Appraisal District for 6 years. She also worked as the Accounting Manager for Potter Minton Law Firm and was in charge of all the financial and accounting functions of the firm, as well as the Full Charge Bookkeeper for Stiefel and Lyles PC, and the Business Manager for Cumberland Academy. Beth now works as a Client Accounting Specialist for The Burkett Firm in Tyler. Beth is the Secretary / Treasurer of the Smith County GIS Association, and is also currently sitting for the CPA Exam to become a licensed Certified Public Accountant to further add to her expertise in Business Management and Accounting. She enjoys spending time with her husband and children.

Thomas Hamby
Thomas Hamby has been in the mapping and IT business for many years. He started a Surveying Degree at Tyler Junior College in 1999, but his night job working for GeoInfo got him interested in mapping, and after one year studying Surveying, he switched to GIS and continued to develop his hands-on knowledge in that field. At GeoInfo, Thomas learned the basics of producing and maintaining GIS data and soon became night manager at GeoInfo, managing several projects for that firm. Thomas moved to Plano in 2003 to work for True Automation, L.P., which is the fastest-growing tax and appraisal Software Company in Texas. In his five years at True Automation, Thomas and his co-workers mapped over 40 counties and over a million ownership parcels. With a former co-worker from GeoInfo, Thomas developed the largest map coverage area offices in Texas. Thomas enjoys football, baseball, softball, tennis, racquetball, motorcycles, four-wheelers, personal watercraft, fishing and hunting, and just about every other activity that involves being outdoors.
Programmer / Analyst:
Christopher Goodrich
Christopher is a former Telemetry Systems and Computer-Communication System Programming Craftsman with the U.S. Air Force and Department of Defense. Christopher is currently a Programmer/Analyst for the Smith County Appraisal District and has been working with GIS since 2014. His current duties include maintaining and updating Mass Appraisal Record System program, maintaining, and updating SQL databases and compiling property data for GIS layers, map creation and analysis. Works in Visual Studio .Net, Visual Basic 6, Microsoft SQL Server Manager and SAP Crystal Reports.

Chip Simonds
Chip has worked in the GIS field since 2000. His jobs have included multiple positions at GeoInfo in Tyler,TX from 2000-2004. He was a GIS data tech at 911 for a year and a GIS Analyst for the City of Tyler from 2004-2006. Currently he is a GIS analyst for Smith County Appraisal District and has been since 2006. Chip earned his Associate in Applied Science in GIS from Tyler Junior College in 2005. His job duties have included maintaining GIS Databases, building web mapping applications, maintaining address databases, setting production schedules and quality control of GIS data.

Dr. Phil Burkhart
Dr. Phil Burkhart is currently the GIS Manager at the County of Smith Texas and has a 30-year GIS career in support of federal and local government, law enforcement, intelligence, engineering, facilities management, education, and multidisciplinary research. He has a proven record in creative spatial problem solving utilizing the resources of geographic information science, cartography, and statistics. His first GIS experience began in 1991 with digitizing topographic maps as a graduate student. Subsequent endeavors and applications have ranged from early 3D modeling of land-use perceptions, environmental risk and mitigation, disease diffusion, crime mapping, spatio-temporal analysis, remote sensing, network analysis, LIDAR, and GIS education. Phil has a master's degree in Geography (GIS) from Miami University and completed PhD coursework in Geography (GIS) at West Virginia University. Phil also received certification from the GIS Certification Institute as a GIS Professional (GISP).

John White, GISP
John is a Certified GIS Professional since 2009 with 19 years of GIS experience. Currently John is the GIS Coordinator for the Smith County Appraisal District, as a member of the Mapping & Records Department. John has previously worked in GIS for the Gregg County Appraisal District from 2002 until 2007 and for the City of Kilgore from 2007 until 2014 as GIS Coordinator. John has been a member of the East Texas GPS \ GIS Users Group (ETUG) since 2003 and has been a member of the South Central Arc Users Group (SCAUG) since 2005. John holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Texas at Tyler and holds an Associates of Applied Sciences in GIS from Tyler Junior College. John serves as a representative on the Smith County GIS Consortium on behalf of the Smith County Appraisal District. John has developed experience in working with jurisdictional boundaries, parcel data, emergency management, addressing, utilities, and aerial imagery. John lives in Tyler and enjoys spending time with his wife and son.

Daniel Rhoades
Daniel graduated from Missouri State University in 2016 with a Comprehensive Bachelor of Science in Geology. He has worked in the GIS / Mapping industry, and in his off-time Daniel enjoys hiking, tennis, and playing the guitar.
