Dynamics and Evolution of the Galactic Center:
Connecting Theory and Observations
Place: Mitaka Campus, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan(NAOJ)
Lecture Room in Central Building
Dates: 9 (Thu.) - 10 (Fri.) April 2026
Social Dinner: Will be held on the 9th night
Rationale:
The central region of the Milky Way is a unique laboratory for studying galaxy evolution in detail. Recent advances in theoretical modeling and high-resolution, multi-wavelength observations are rapidly transforming our understanding of gas dynamics, star formation, and the role of the Galactic bar in shaping the inner Galaxy.
This workshop aims to bring together researchers working on theory, simulations, and multi-wavelength observations of the Milky Way and its central region. The program includes a keynote lecture by Mattia Sormani and invited talks from both theoretical and observational perspectives. By bringing together different communities, we seek to build a coherent picture of the dynamical evolution of the inner Milky Way and to explore synergies with ongoing and upcoming projects such as ALMA, XRISM, PRIME, Subaru/PFS/ULTIMATE, and JASMINE.
