This is my review of the 2008 SF Seals Lefty O'Doul bobblehead that was given away by the San Francisco Giants as part of Irish Heritage night.

"Much like Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax, Lefty O'Doul spent the first five seasons of his big league career as a mediocre pitcher. Also like Koufax, O'Doul would put it all together for a very good final six seasons. Unlike Koufax, however, O'Doul found success only after moving to the outfield. The career numbers aren't there, and O'Doul did only make one all star team (1933), but Lefty's final six seasons included three 200-hit seasons, two batting titles (including posting a .398 average in 1929), and thre seasons of 20-plus home runs and 90-plus RBI. His .349 career batting average is higher than that of Babe Ruth, Tony Gwynn, and Ted Williams. Longevity may be the only thing that has kept Lefty out of the Hall."
