"Sticky lettering" arrived 2015.

Computer cut text was quicker to apply.

Almost "Same-day" service.

And, as there was competition between the sign companies,

springing up like mushrooms,

the prices soon came down. 


The signwriter , although taking a day or two,

could usually keep his prices UP,

because, usually, there was little or no competition!


Digital printing  came soon after.

Meaning ALL the artwork

created by a graphics program

could be printed 

on to a (large) sheet of adhesive vinyl

and that, stuck to a 5mm (e.g.) PVC sheet

& applied all at once to the fascia.


Signwriting, with paint, as below, was now out of date.

(So, thanks to the delay of the PC arriving on the Costa,

I just caught the last few years!)


I do not know how the signwriters in the UK fared.

I suppose they pushed the "Traditional" aspect!

Though when something else is cheaper & faster,

it must be uphill for them . . .

Entonces la computadora finalmente me adelantó, 

con letras de vinilo adhesivo.

& took the USB to the printer.
