PhD Speed Dating
This year's conference will offer a specific networking skills session for the first time ever in the form of a PhD speed dating event.
Aim: This session is about building relationships with other PhD students, talking to different people and not being isolated. Not only will this session give participants the opportunity to talk to like-minded people, it is also about building a sense of community, participation, friendship and ‘belonging’. It is not just about meeting the ‘right’ PhD student doing research in your ‘exact’ area; rather it is creating and sustaining relationships with a group of other students that you will come to know and trust, that you may help in future if asked, and who may help you in return.
The connections made during the networking event may be helpful for: asking advice, seeking assistance, exchange information, and ultimately can be the first step you need for your career.
What will it involve?
1- Brief presentation on networking techniques/skills from a networking guru.
2- Hand-on networking experience through PhD Speed Dating: Participants will have few minutes at each desk to talk about their research and the reasons for speed dating (for example, whether they are looking for help, advice, participants for their trial and tests, or just friendship and fun, etc…). Do not forget to bring along your business cards!
3- A great opportunity to have some fun.
Do not miss this opportunity, register now!
