Bylaws
An HOA is typically set up as a nonprofit corporation established to manage a private, planned community. The HOA is governed by a board of directors who are elected by Home Owners and a set of rules called Bylaws. The Bylaws govern how the HOA operates and information needed to run the HOA as a business. For example:
· how often the HOA holds meetings
· how meetings are conducted
· the duties of the various offices of the board of directors
· Home Owner voting rights
Covenants
The Declaration of Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions, referred to as Covenants, is the legal document that lays out the guidelines for the planned community. Basically, the Covenants are the rules of the neighborhood. They govern what you can, cannot, or must do with respect to your homes. For example:
· Basketball hoops
· Fences
· Paint choices
· TV antennas/satellite dishes
Copies of Bylaws and Covenants should have been provided to Home Owners by the title company during the purchase of homes in Shepherds Grove. If you did not receive these documents, below are links to both SGHOA Bylaws and Covenants.
Proxy Vote
Each year, at the annual meeting, there are votes taken for officer elections and budget approval. There may be times when a home owner will be unable to attend the meeting but want to allow another home owner to vote on your behalf. Below is the link for the HOA Proxy Ballot. Complete this and provide the form to your designated home owner. They will be able to vote on your behalf.
