The F1 Story

It was the 2017 Father's Day Car Show. Jean and I pulled into the show and parked in the lower lot

where all the club members park. After a while I noticed that Wayne Gerrish had brought his 1937

Ford truck and there was a "For Sale" sign on the window.

Jean and I had been looking at trucks for at least 4 to 5 years. We had been to 3 or 4 Charlotte

Speedway Spring and Fall car shows and swap meets. Always looking at trucks!

When I saw Wayne's truck I told him I was interested. After the car show I met him at his house

and he put the '37 up on his car lift to show me some things. After a while I started walking around

his garage thinking and I walked through a doorway and there sat his 1950 Ford F1 truck. When I

saw it I asked him if it was for sale. Wayne replied " No, my son and I bought it to restore together.

It holds too much sentimental value." Wayne was not ready to sell the '50. I told him whenever he was

ready to sell it I wanted first chance and I would wait. It was closest to the age we wanted and the '37

was a lot older than what we wanted. So that day I went home without a truck.

A few months later I was at home working in my garage when Wayne Gerrish walked in. Always glad

to see him, I asked him how he was doing. He replied "I'm ready to sell the '50".

On October 12, 2017 we met in West Middlesex and transferred the title and plate.

The rest is history.
