FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THEATRE TUSCALOOSA TO HOLD SECONDSTAGE AUDITIONS SEPT. 11 & 12

TUSCALOOSA, AL – Theatre Tuscaloosa will hold open auditions for its SecondStage production CQ/CX on Monday, September 11 and Tuesday, September 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the Wilson Carr Rehearsal Hall, located off the lobby of the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Rd.).

CQ/CX examines the nature of the truth. A young hotshot writer's fast and loose writing style forces The New York Times to re-evaluate its principles. Jay is an up-and-coming reporter at The New York Times who has dreams of becoming a famous journalist. But, in a flash, they come crashing down when he becomes the center of a plagiarism scandal. A revealing and complex story about the collateral damage of unchecked ambition and compounded lies, this play was inspired by true events in which truth becomes slippery, and racial tensions reach a boiling point.

CQ/CX has five male roles and one female role available for those between the ages of twenty and fifty. Those who audition should be prepared to participate in cold readings from the script. All who audition must bring their calendars and list all conflicts regarding the rehearsal schedule on their audition sheets.

Scripts of CQ/CX are available to read in the Theatre Tuscaloosa Ticket Office in advance (recommended); however, scripts may not leave the premises. The Ticket Office is open Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. – noon.

Rehearsals will begin the week of September 18, 2017. Rehearsals are generally held Monday through Friday evenings and some Sunday afternoons. There will not be rehearsals on most Saturdays. The final rehearsal schedule will be published after casting.

CQ/CX will be presented November 1-5, 2017. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 2 - Saturday, November 4 and 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1 and Sunday, November 5.
