SHELTON STATE TERRIFIC TUESDAY CONCERT SERIES

TO FEATURE THE TUSKALOOSA BRASS QUINTET

Tuscaloosa, Alabama – Shelton State Community College’s Terrific Tuesday Concert Series will feature the Tuskaloosa Brass Quintet on Tuesday, October 24 at 1:00 p.m. in the Alabama Power Recital Hall on the Martin Campus. Admission is free and open to the public.

The Tuskaloosa Brass Quintet is a group of professional musicians who are passionate about fostering the culture of live music in Tuscaloosa and the surrounding area. Members of the group include faculty, staff, and graduate students from local universities including Stillman, Shelton State, University of Alabama, UAB, and Mississippi State. The musicians are Elijah Pugh and David Myers on trumpet, Haley Funkhouser on horn, Drennan Holliday on trombone, and Eli Westerfield on tuba.

The group’s fall 2017 recital program features a variety of music from popular genres. This fun program is bookended by an operatic fanfare and music from the Dixieland genre. Over the course of the recital, the audience will experience selections from West Side Story and the film “Brassed Off,” as well as a tango, music with a Spanish flair, and chart topping hits by The Beatles.

The Tuskaloosa Brass Quintet is available for a variety of events and performs music from a wide range of styles. More info about the performers and biographies can be found on the Tuskaloosa Brass Quintet Facebook page.

Shelton State’s Terrific Tuesday Concert Series is designed to showcase a variety of repertory styles. Weekly performances are offered by guest artists as well as Shelton State faculty and students.
