FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THEATRE TUSCALOOSA TO HOLD AUDITIONS OCT. 23 & 24

TUSCALOOSA, AL – Theatre Tuscaloosa will hold open auditions for A Christmas Carol Monday, October 23, 2017, and Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. in the Wilson Carr Rehearsal Hall, located off the lobby of the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Rd.).

In Romulus Linney’s stage adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel, four mysterious spirits visit Ebenezer Scrooge to help him find the true meaning of Christmas. Due to popular demand, Theatre Tuscaloosa is re-mounting its 2016 production of this family favorite with the addition of some new surprises.

Because this year’s production is a remount of last year’s production, many of the cast members will be returning, but A Christmas Carol does have a few roles available: Tiny Tim, adult/teen ensemble members, and a few children (male and female). Those who were in the cast last year at Theatre Tuscaloosa will not need to audition again but will be contacted in advance. Those who audition should be prepared to participate in cold readings from the script and sing a short verse from a traditional Christmas carol. All who audition must bring their calendars and list all conflicts regarding the rehearsal schedule on their audition sheets.

Scripts of A Christmas Carol are available to read in the Theatre Tuscaloosa Ticket Office in advance (recommended); however, scripts may not leave the premises. The Ticket Office is open Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. – noon for script perusal.

Rehearsals will begin November 13, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. Rehearsals are generally held Monday through Friday evenings and some Sunday afternoons. There will not be rehearsals on most Saturdays. The final rehearsal schedule will be published after casting.

A Christmas Carol will be presented December 8-17, 2017. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays; Fridays; and Saturday, December 9. Matinee performances will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sundays; Wednesday, December 13; and Saturday, December 16. School matinee performances will be presented at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13 and Thursday, December 14. A pay-what-you-can final dress rehearsal will be presented on Thursday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m., all proceeds of which will benefit the Charlie Dennis Memorial Scholarship Fund.

More details are available at www.theatretusc.com or at 205.391.2277.
