FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THEATRE TUSCALOOSA’S A CHRISTMAS CAROL RETURNS FOR SECOND YEAR

TUSCALOOSA, AL – Back by popular demand, Theatre Tuscaloosa presents A Christmas Carol December 8-17, 2017, in the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Rd.).

This traditional story by Charles Dickens has been adapted for the stage by award-winning playwright Romulus Linney. Like Dickens’ original novel, four mysterious spirits visit Ebenezer Scrooge to help him find the true meaning of Christmas.

“It’s just not Christmas without Scrooge,” said Jeff Wilson, who reprises his role as the iconic Ebenezer Scrooge. “I’m so honored to be bringing Scrooge back to life,” said Wilson. “This is a great story of how an odious man can change his world. God bless us, every one!”

Wilson is joined by retuning cast members Grace Conner, Kendall Mae Corkren, Carol DeVelice, Mac Hackney, Porsche Kemp, Krishan Singh King, Declan Robinson, Andrew Smith, Helen Smith, Ivan Taylor, George Thagard, Tara Trent, Ernie Turley, Elizabeth Ward, Jake Whipple, Liza Beth Whipple, Rhonda Wooley, and Wescott Youngson. New to this year’s production are Ian Akins, David Cordell, Bradley Logan, Avery May, Avery Mitchell, Charles Prosser, Brodrick Santeze Ryans, Paige Stroud, Railey Sullivan, and Davida Tubbs.

“My Christmas joy starts with A Christmas Carol and the meaning Dickens brings to the season,” said Carol DeVelice. “To share the beauty of Christmas with my theatre family and with our wonderful audiences is one of the true blessings of the year. I’m so excited about sharing this again!”

The production team includes Tina Turley, director; Tyler Afflerbach, stage manager; Wheeler Kincaid, scenic and sound designer; Richard Dunham, lighting designer; Ernie Turley and Tara Trent, music coordinators; and Jeanette Waterman, costumer.

“I am thrilled to once again bring Charles Dickens’ classic back to Tuscaloosa this season,” said Tina Turley. “This fine cast and crew have put together a show that is perfect for young and old and a great way to get the whole family into the holiday spirit.”

Theatre Tuscaloosa’s 2017-2018 season is supported by Shelton State Community College, the City of Tuscaloosa, the Alabama State Council on the Arts, Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc., WVUA23, and Townsquare Media.
