The Shelton State Community College Cheerleading squad is headed to Orlando, Florida, in the hopes of claiming its 10th national championship title LIVE on Varsity TV at the 2017 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship on Jan. 13-15.

The biggest challenge for the Bucs this season has been getting comfortable performing in front of others.

"We love to perform but learning how to control the excitement while executing is always new for a new team," Shelton State head coach Christa Grizzle Sanford said.

Shelton State holds joint practices with other local teams such as University of Alabama-Birmingham and the University of Alabama to help with its preparation.

Thank you to @Alabama_Cheer for welcoming us into your house! We enjoyed sharing the mat with you! Lots of fun tonight!!! #rollbucsroll pic.twitter.com/8Y3Euz7lew

This team is very much admires the 2016 team and hopes to share in their successes.

Preparing for 10:

Shelton State practices a two-a-day schedule leading up to nationals. The first practice is for fine-tuning and developing consistency, and the second practice focuses on the running and training of the full routine.

What to watch for this year:

I think this year we have a really fun routine to watch. It's packed with skills and fun elements for our division.

The Bucs have been focusing on creating fun pyramids while keeping every technical element of their routine sharp and clean.

"We stunt more in this routine," Grizzle Sanford said. "So I think staying focused on another section of stunting has been a good challenge."

Will the Bucs enter double digits and claim their 10th national championship title? Be sure to watch them compete LIVE at the 2017 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship!
