FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THEATRE TUSCALOOSA TO HOLD AUDITIONS OCT. 24 & 25

TUSCALOOSA, AL – Theatre Tuscaloosa will hold open auditions for Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol on Monday, October 24 and Tuesday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Wilson Carr Rehearsal Hall, located off the lobby of the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Rd).

In this stage adaptation of the Dickens classic, four spirits visit Ebenezer Scrooge in his dreams to help him find the true meaning of Christmas. It is a show for young and old and a great way to get the whole family into the holiday spirit.

A Christmas Carol has numerous roles available for children, teens, and adults between ages 5 and 75.

Those who audition should be prepared to participate in cold readings from the script and sing any Christmas carol. All who audition must bring their calendars and list all conflicts regarding the rehearsal schedule on their audition sheets.

Scripts of A Christmas Carol are available to read in the Theatre Tuscaloosa Ticket Office in advance (recommended); however, scripts may not leave the premises. The Ticket Office is open Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.

Rehearsals will begin November 1, 2016. Rehearsals are generally held Monday through Friday evenings and some Sunday afternoons. There will not be rehearsals on most Saturdays. The final rehearsal schedule will be published after casting.

A Christmas Carol will be presented December 9-18 in the Bean-Brown Theatre on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturday, December 10. Matinee performances will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sundays; Wednesday, December 14; and Saturday, December 17. A pay-what-you-can final dress rehearsal will be presented on Thursday, December 8 at 7:30 p.m., all proceeds of which will benefit the Charlie Dennis Memorial Scholarship Fund.
