SHELTON STATE AMBASSADORS CONCLUDE CAUSE FOR PAWS FUNDRAISER

Tuscaloosa, Alabama – The Shelton State Ambassadors concluded their spring service project, Cause for Paws, with a $500 check presentation to the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter on Monday, April 25.

In addition to accepting donations from Shelton State students, faculty, and staff, the Shelton State Ambassadors spent volunteer hours at the facility cleaning and caring for the animals.

“Volunteering at Metro and spending time with the wonderful people keeping that place going strong made me appreciate their work so much more than I did before,” said Matthew Marshall, now completing his first year as an Ambassador. “It was a privilege to be able to be a small part of the big changes they make in the lives of animals.”

Alecia L. Tingle, Event and Volunteer Coordinator for Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter, was grateful for the $500 donation and honored to have the Ambassadors as volunteers. “The money raised by this group will be used for vet bills, medicines, treats, and toys,” said Tingle. “Something I told them really rings true - ‘If I am to be the voice of these shelter pets today, then I am going to shout!’ They certainly did that and we love them.”

The Shelton State Ambassador program was developed to provide extensive leadership training, while offering the opportunity to serve as official hosts for the College. Members work closely with the administration and faculty to convey Shelton State’s message to the community. For more information, email ambassadors@sheltonstate.edu.
