MAYOR WALT MADDOX
Tuscaloosa, Alabama – Shelton State Community College’s Collegiate 100 received thanks from Tuscaloosa mayor, Walt Maddox, for participation in a Youth Engagement Session (Y.E.S.) on Saturday, March 12. The event was organized by members of the 100 Black Men of West Alabama, Shelton State Community College’s Collegiate 100, and Reverend Laramie Long, Director of the Boys and Girls Club of Greensboro, Alabama.
Mayor Walt Maddox sent formal congratulations to the Collegiate 100 organization. “Through your selfless actions, high school males will learn important mentoring, peer intervention, crime awareness, and law enforcement lessons,” Mayor Maddox said. “Shelton State Community College’s Collegiate 100 is an excellent role model for others to follow, and we are fortunate to have organizations such as this in the community.”
Y.E.S. events are geared primarily towards African American males in high school and focus on mentoring, peer intervention, crime awareness, law enforcement, and additional topics relative to the community.
